Every year, 200,000 people flock to Worthy Farm in Somerset to experience a local phenomenon of global proportions.
Nothing compares to the Glastonbury Festival – and as a result, it requires extensive logistical planning on a greater scale than any other music event in the UK.
We’ve partnered with Glastonbury Festival since 2004, from an initial requirement of just 500 radios to well over 3,500 units, 130+ base stations and associated infrastructure needed today. Since large-scale communications became essential, we’ve been by their side.
To keep the music playing, and the Glastonbury team functioning at full capacity, our delivery begins in April, continues throughout the festival and wraps up only when the post-festival operations are completed.
If Glastonbury were to go wrong, the world would know about it.
We understand the enormity of this occasion and its reputation and ensure we play our part in keeping the festival running smoothly.
An event of this magnitude requires coordination between multiple teams across 1,500 acres with little existing infrastructure, with each site and stage functioning as its own ecosystem. It demands a communications network that keeps all those teams connected to support the safety and operational requirements of the festival before, during and after the event.
With teams working around the clock, they need a communications system that also is going to be reliable and available 24/7.

“Glastonbury feels like a collection of festivals within one. When we speak about festivals that compare in size, there simply aren’t any.”
Mike Baker, 2CL

We’ve developed, deployed and managed an extraordinary communications event network.
We ensure all the communications challenges of Glastonbury Festival are met, giving the organisers peace of mind that with everything else they have to do, this aspect is in hand.
All communications are coordinated from a single control room that can access every channel and should their needs change at short notice, we’re also on-site and on-hand to adapt the system as needed.
3,865
Motorola digital radios distributed to thousands of staff across 1,500 acres
137
Channels set up to cater for 75 user groups including utilities, stages, first responders, stewards and management.
Over the years, we’ve continued to build a rigorous communications infrastructure that simply works.
It provides every team member, wherever and whenever throughout the festival, with communications they can depend on.
It means that both the organisers and staff have complete peace of mind regarding their communications setup. It’s managed on their behalf, by on-site experts with an intricate understanding of the festival’s unique demands. With such large numbers of equipment on-site, we’ve also implemented a stock control system to reduce losses and minimise unexpected financial costs for the festival organisers.
For the festival attendees, everything works as planned. People are safe. Food is served and the music plays.

The 2CL difference
Our support begins well before the music fans arrive at Worthy Farm. 2CL provides on-site, in-person support before, during and after the event to ensure our systems remain ready to match the intense requirements of the festival.
We appreciate that supplying events is demanding, time-critical, and often presents last-minute challenges. Providing this level of service requires exceptional expertise.
We are the tried and tested answer to even the most complex, large- scale communications requirements, which is why we’ve been chosen by Glastonbury Festival every year since 2004. Like many other services that make Glastonbury happen, our systems ensure that all the hard work behind the scenes simply works.
The music takes centre stage, the party never stops, and the teams that make Glastonbury the envy of music lovers across the world do so knowing their communications equipment doesn’t miss a beat.
