Our two-way radio systems are designed with the end user in mind. Always focusing on meeting your exact requirements, 2CL will strive to design a radio system tailored to your specifications.
Key Considerations for Two-Way Radio System Design
With every bespoke two-way radio system designed by 2CL, there are several important key considerations which are always taken into account.
- What do you need the system to do? Who do you need to talk to, and what sort of information needs to be communicated?
- How would you like the system to work? Who needs to speak to who, are any emergency systems already in place? How are the radios going to be used day-to-day?
- Who will be managing the system? Some radio systems are continually monitored, while others may be purely 9-5 with no overall management of the system. Both options have different considerations.
- Where do you need the system to work? This has potentially huge implications on how we build the system and is possibly one of the most important factors.
These are only a few of the key considerations, but you can begin to appreciate the care and attention to detail that goes into bespoke radio design.

The Process of Two Way Radio System Design
During the development of the radio system in use for Compass Minerals at their underground salt mine in Winsford, 2CL were heavily involved with the customer directly. Before a two-way radio system could be sold and installed, 2CL carried out extensive coverage surveys.
Due to the nature of the environment, certain design elements needed consideration. For example, due to the high levels of dust produced during the mining process, all repeater units needed to be held off the ground, and also enclosed in Ingress Protection rated cabinets.
The conclusion of an extensive design and consultation phase has been the successful running of a Motorola digital two-way radio system for over 5 years now. For more details see the petrochemical and mining sector page.
