AIB Group Holdings supplies security and crowd safety personnel to some of the UK’s most prestigious venues and events. Since March 2026, 2CL has supplied AIB’s teams with a complete two-way radio and body-worn camera solution giving their stewards, response teams and event control rooms a reliable partner for the whole of their events season.

The Challenge

AIB Group had a growing list of issues that had the potential to compromise their operations that needed addressing:

Coverage that didn’t reach the whole site. At the National Bowl in Milton Keynes, one of AIB’s larger and more remote deployments, previous radio systems had left blackspots in parts of the venue. Having coverage everywhere its teams were working was a really important operational and safety risk AIB wanted to address.

Equipment that went missing and cost money. Radios and other equipment had previously gone unaccounted for during events, and with no way to trace it back to who had been issued it, AIB was left to cover the cost of replacing it.

AT A GLANCE

Industry: Event Security & Safety
Location: Milton Keynes, Northampton, Brighton, and Windsor
Client: AIB Group Holdings Ltd
2CL Supplied: Two-way radio hire, body-worn camera hire, TRBOnet Enterprise dispatch and recording

AIB had been using different equipment suppliers for each event. This lack of consistency meant no one supplier ever gained sufficient information about AIB’s operation to support them well enough. It also meant the devices and setup would vary each time, making it difficult for staff to become familiar with it.

Recordings that took too long to arrive. When an incident needed to be reviewed, AIB had to request its previous supplier for the call recordings, which inevitability ended up being a slow process that delayed investigations.

“The support from 2CL across every event this summer has been amazing. Whatever we’ve needed, whenever we’ve needed it, their team has been there for us.”

— Dan Laney, National Operations Manager, AIB Group

The Solution

With 2CL in place as their dedicated communications supplier, not only did we get to understand AIB’s challenges as a whole, it also gave AIB a single point of contact across their events calendar.

Milton Keynes National Bowl

At Milton Keynes National Bowl, the key aim was to eliminate the radio blackspots. To achieve this, our team recommended and installed a 100m trailer mast with four repeaters in a combiner to cover the full site.

For the various teams, we supplied them with just under 600 Motorola D4600 and DP4400e digital radios, backed up by Motorola DM4800 desktop radios in the event control room, and 12 Hytera SC580 body cameras for the security team.

Every portable and desktop radio at the National Bowl ran on a Motorola TRBOnet system that recorded every call across the network. After each event, we supplied AIB with the event’s two-way radio recordings, so should they need it, it was already in their hands.

Northampton

At Northampton, the same number of repeaters were used to guarantee coverage for a smaller but no less demanding site across a three-week run of events, one being the popular Zimfest music festival.

Around 200 DP4400e radios, along with a small number of DP4800 units, were deployed and backed by DM4800 desktop radios in the control room.

Each event had a significant number of portable radios, which meant a high risk of some going missing. To mitigate the issue of missing equipment that had cost AIB in the past, our workshop team labelled every battery and pre-scanned each radio’s serial number against the ID of the person it was issued to, before the equipment left our premises. If a radio went missing during an event, AIB could trace it straight back to the individual it was assigned to, protecting them from unplanned replacement costs they’d previously absorbed.

“The technical knowledge from 2CL’s engineers and the wider hire team has been second to none. Any question we had about specs or what needed to go in at a site, they had the answer straight away.”

— Dan Laney, National Operations Manager, AIB Group

The Results

Milton Keynes achieved full-site coverage for the first time, closing the blackspots that had affected previous events. Across security, response and stewarding teams alike, communications held up reliably throughout the summer.

Where lost equipment once meant an unplanned cost for AIB, missing kit can now be traced straight back to whoever it was issued to. Combined with hire pricing that’s more competitive than AIB paid previous suppliers, the switch to 2CL has delivered real cost savings across the whole season.

A stronger, simpler partnership

Rather than hiring radios and body-worn cameras from separate suppliers, AIB now has a single point of contact for every hire, from small trial events in the spring to the summer’s largest festival dates.

Many of the clients AIB supported through the summer were new to them, and off the back of a successful season, AIB has since secured repeat bookings.

“We’d highly recommend 2CL’s radio and hire services to any event organiser. They’ve made a real difference to how we run our events.”

— Dan Laney, National Operations Manager, AIB Group
