Background & history:

Savills took over management of Ropemaker Place in 2018. The 20-storey, 595,000sq ft building, designed by Arup Associates for both professional and financial services occupiers, provides two trading floors at the lower level, with a variety of floor plates above. It is located in central London and is one of the city’s most attractive and sustainable buildings.


Why did Ropemaker Place choose 2CL Communications?

Savills came to us in early 2019 because we had previously supplied some accessories and replacement equipment to the site. We were recommended to them by the last building managers who were pleased with the service 2CL provided.


The Challenge:

The team at Ropemaker Place needed a communication system that would give them full coverage throughout the building. They had an outdated analogue system that had not been updated in years, and their coverage throughout the building was patchy and unreliable. Getting coverage across such a large site with so many floors is a challenge and their previous system wasn’t up to the task. They needed a one-stop solution from 2CL Communications to resolve their communication issues.


Our Solution:

2CL updated the building’s radio system from analogue to digital, replacing their existing handsets with 42 Motorola DP4400s and 4 Motorola DP4600s with emergency call capability on a long-term hire contract. These operate through a Motorola SLR5500 repeater, enhancing their coverage and giving the users two separate communication channels rather than one. A thorough survey was conducted by one of 2CL Communication’s qualified engineers to make sure the new system would provide coverage throughout the building.



The building management team at Ropemaker Place were impressed with the speed and efficiency with which 2CL installed the system and the voice quality of the new system. The changeover was smooth, and 2CL provided managers with some basic training to make sure the transition from analogue to digital was seamless and they were making the most of the new features.
