2 way radios now have the capacity to do so much more than simply transmit voices... your radio can now help you to be safer even when working alone. The Lone Worker radio feature allows you to know that even if an accident happened your radio will put out a call for help, giving you the peace of mind that you need in your work.
Scenario 1
In situations where the radio user is working alone safety and communication is essential.
The Motorola Professional Series radios provide the user with a number of ways to be safe whilst working alone.
An orange button on the top of the radio can be programmed to raise an alarm to other radios or a base station, and provide an identity if display radios are used.
By activating the Lone Worker feature on the radio, a timer within the radio measures inactivity and will automatically send the emergency call described above if the timer is exceeded. The user is warned with an audible tone before the alarm is sent.
In conjunction with the Lone Worker feature, it is possible to fit an option board to the radio to provide a voice record facility. The user records a voice message of where they are working alone. This message can be sent out if the Lone Worker or Emergency alarm is sent to other radios. Therefore, other radios get an emergency alert and the recorded message for location to provide a fast response.
A Man Down option board for the radio will detect if the radio is tilted through 30 or 60 degrees for a period of time and thus detecting that the user has perhaps fallen unconscious or injured. This will activate the Emergency call shown above. The user is warned with an audible tone before the alarm is sent. This feature cannot be used with the voice storage option board.
