Bespoke Hire
As well as offering off the shelf radio systems solutions for hire, 2CL are able to build and hire bespoke systems. We are in a position to offer this service due to the technical expertise offered by our service engineers who support our hire department. Our engineers accredited and unique abilities will enable us to identify the correct solution for you regardless of the requirement. Possibilities include:
...the customisation of a trunk system in order to program personalised contact numbers so that an individual using a radio can be specifically and privately reached either by another radio or by an external telephone line.
...the integration of radio with alternative technologies whose use is required on site.
...Unusual or ambitious coverage or operational areas which would test the range of any radio communications system.
Our work with Nova International's Great North Run is a good example of this adaptability.
Great North Run
The Great North Run is the Worlds Biggest Half Marathon and continues to increase in popularity year on year. Over 50,000 runners line up annually including elite athletes, celebrities, club runners, and thousands of charity runners who once again do their bit to raise millions for charities.
However, in terms of bespoke communications, our greatest challenge was providing coverage across the 13.1 miles of undulating Great North Run course which starts on the Central Motorway in Newcastle upon Tyne and finishes by the coast of South Shields. To obtain coverage over the straight course we had to build a system that would link three repeaters together therefore giving complete radio coverage. Nova was immensely pleased with the improvements we made and continue to entrust their communications to us.

2CL are the Great Run Series' official communications supplier meaning that we provide all radios and supporting infrastructure to the Great North, South, Edinburgh, Manchester and Sheffield Runs to name a few. The effective use of radio is essential to the smooth running of these events which we ensure through closely working with organiser Nova International.
We are incredibly happy with both the radio system and communications equipment hired. It made our operation far easier to manage from event control.
